Teen Miss Christmas Spirit 2009

Cynthia Deferrari

I was born in New York on February 15, 1990 and moved to Florida when I was seven. Since then I’ve had the privilege to study at the Coral Springs Charter School from 8th-12th grade. My education has always been at the top of my list of priorities, it’s a blessing to have the opportunity to study and pursue a career of choice. Opportunity is enough to give me that drive to go forward with my goals and dreams. Education I’ve never taken lightly; on contrary, I’ve not only strived to be the best I can be but have also moved up from honors to Advanced Placement courses to help me obtain all the knowledge possible, and have acquired not only membership to National Honor Society, Key Club, DECA, Ace Academy but also leading roles as President of the first two mentioned. It’s an inner drive that comes naturally, and that is why I believe we have Presidents, Doctors and Lawyers... it’s because there are people who want to do something wonderful for not only their lives but for others as well. Part of that drive to succeed comes from my heritage. My father is from Uruguay/Brazil and my mother is from the Dominican Republic. Growing up in a Hispanic household has taught me the significance of working together through good and distressing times and that when one person suffers the whole family suffers; therefore, acknowledging that it’s important to understand that in the process of helping others, you are also helping yourself. Morality is an important key to the person that I am- A leader in pursuit to better the world.

All of my Middle and High school years I’ve been confronted by peer pressure and temptation, but I’ve figured out the compelling force that being different has. While everyone was doing what their parents had told them not to do I was always doing the contrary. With standing for what I believed in for so many years, my peers have only one view and perception of me, and it’s one of which I am highly proud of. A perception that I believe anyone can obtain for themselves if only they had the proper guidance. I wish to be that guidance for the upcoming generations in the world, simply because that’s the nurturing aspect of me. I find myself helping others even when I’m in need myself. It’s a typical cliché of a pageant delegate to wish world peace, but for me it’s the first step to fixing the damage the media has caused today; a damage that has altered the importance of profession, marriage, and views of oneself. That’s why I’m taking advantage of my every promised day to help in any way possible and to place a simple yet meaningful mark on everyone’s life. That’s what the world needs to know about me, and that’s what I am going to bring forth with animals as an aspiring Veterinarian.

From my prospective, the future seems bright and prosperous. I try to keep an open mind about the future because one never knows what is going to happen. I assured myself that while I have the doors open to success or failure I will do everything possible to succeed in whichever way I feel happiest. I see life differently, and that is what helps me make decisions so wisely. I’ve been blessed with an outlook of life that has only brought a good head on my shoulders and wonderful people into my life. I learn new things each day, now I feel my duty is to share it with the world.

What The Spirit Of Christmas Means To Me

Unfortunately, not everyone gets along and not everyone is kind and caring. So there must be a reason why Christmas is titled, “ The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.”

Christmas is a time at the end of the year when people forget about being selfish and naturally take the initiative to give. Those that once found themselves guilty of not being kind to others, become softer in character, and cherish not only their families but others as well. A perfect example would be those that donate to the “ Angel Tree” (an organization that collects gifts for children that have parents in jail.) Christmas brings out the best in people, which is important because throughout such a busy year, people do not have time to make themselves happy, much less someone else; so, it makes sense that there is a certain “spirit” about Christmas. A “spirit” that was born through time and story telling, but became important to the history of man kind because we realize what is most important in our lives.

There is so much to understand about each other, and when Christmas comes along even the climate makes it so that we have to snuggle close to those we love for warmth, and make fire while we sip hot chocolate. Christmas is a time when people come together and learn little things about each other that at some point we never knew. Even I remember sitting watching “A Christmas Story” with my family last Christmas, and while we watched the movie I learned little details about each member of my family that now makes me so much closer to them.

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year because we come out of the shell that we live in throughout the year, and embrace those around us.
